Sunday Stroll

Moving to Host Families!

We are off to our host family sites!

Our first week of training is over, and for the next five weeks we will be living with our host family. There we will eat Belizean cooking, attend training classes for eight hours a day, and practice the language with our host family.

As you can see, we are super excited to get our offical Peace Corps Issue Medical Kits!

They loaded us all up in the Peace Corps SUV's and took us all to our sites. It was really exciting getting to see where everyone else was going to be living, and finally pulling up to our own Host Home.

Our First Few Days in Belize!

Hey everyone! I can't belive we have already been in Belize for four days now. We have been doing training, and have gotten to see a bit of the country.

The country is absolutely beautiful - with everything from beaches to rainforrest. The people have all been very friendly. There are so many different and unique cultures here and we are having a great time learning about all of them.

Saturday we enjoyed a cultural presentation at a High School in eastern Belize, and then went and visted the second largest site of Mayan ruins in Belize (only minutes from the Guatemalean border). Today we went and swam in one of the attributaries of the Belize river. There was a great rope swing and about a 15 foot cliff to jump off of (where the locals showed us how to do flips!)

We are doing great and enjoying every minute. Be on the look out for updates!

Staging!

Wow! So here we are in DC, all ready to board the plane tomorrow for Belize. We had quite an interesting trip through the DC Subway system with our 2 years worth of luggage, but we made it here just fine.

We will be waking up in, oh...about 2 hours to leave for the air port for Belize...at 1:30am!

Our next post will be from BELIZE.
